  1. So Class XII is gonna start soon

April 10, 2011 by Sunit Nandi

So, exams as school and brilliant are over. I am relaxing right now. Freshening up before the actual struggle starts. Other than that, I am going through the NCERT books to get an idea of the syllabus.

BTW, everything is fine and I am enjoying chatting at the XDA Developers tech forum.

  2. My HTC Tattoo runs Android 2.3

March 27, 2011 by Sunit Nandi

Hello guys, I am so lucky feeling to say that my old HTC Tattoo is now running Android 2.3 Gingerbread. All thanks to CyanogenMod!

Here, the photos are hosted in my Facebook albums, so you can see this too.

    Have fun!

  3. Class XI Annual Exams over

March 19, 2011 by Sunit Nandi

So, finally one year comes to an end. Annual exams over. Only one year left for the school leaving exams. Makes me feel a little sad because I have to miss school life for my entire life. Too bad because Brilliant Tutorials is back again and they are gonna take another test this month. Tiring stuff. Leaves no time to write a blog. Till the holidays are on, I will try to upload more pics of the family and fun we had during this year. Hope to write again soon. See you again!

  4. Tomorrow I am gonna renovate my blog

January 22, 2011 by Sunit Nandi

Hello guys, hope you all are happy, prosperous and enjoying. To add more fun, I am going to renovate my blog tomorrow (yes, on Sunday). I will put a new theme, add some more pages about myself. And what’s more, I am gonna write more: about me and my funny incidents. So wait and enjoy the fun!

  5. Happy Bhogali Bihu to all my Assamese friends

January 16, 2011 by Sunit Nandi

Happy Bihu, my dear friends. You guys must be feasting a lot, I guess. Well, dunno what’s the trouble, I am having stomach trouble for the past 15 days. No feasting, only running to the toilet. 😛 Dunno how long it’ll take to be ok.

As far as everything tech goes, I abandoned HTC Tattoo for the Nokia C7. Everything works fine now. Thanks to its N-Gage option, I played NFS Shift, Asphalt 5 and Sims 3. Also, I completed playing the game Gangstar 3: Miami Vindication. Hopefully, I will complete the others too and go hunting for newer ones like NFS Hot Pursuit.

I just hope my tummy gets ok, so I stop playing and start eating instead.

  6. Hell ya! My HTC Tattoo now can access the web!

November 20, 2010 by Sunit Nandi

After lot of figuring out, I finally decided to leave the approach to tunnel over an HTTP proxy. That method was not working as I am not able to approach any working DNS server in our network and the hostnames are resolved through the proxy.
So I took a different approach. I realized that my dad’s HTC HD2 has the WMWifiRouter option. So I can tether any device to it and use BSNL 3G’s amazing network. I started out with this option. Then I came to know that Android does not support Adhoc WiFi networks. I then decided to hack the configuration files. I had no problem as the device was already rooted. I enabled the network that way and then added the network manually.
After that I fired up the router on dad’s phone. My Tattoo happily connected to it and came to see the world wide web. My dream of finally getting it to access the internet was successful and the phone is working great with all Google features like browser, gmail, maps working.
So I was very very happy and decided to post this from my phone. 🙂 Thanks to “WordPress for Android” app. And thanks to this tutorial: http://www.wissamidrissi.com/2010/02/how-to-connect-android-phone-to-your-ad.html which helped me a lot. 😀
My Android life got a fresh start. LOL!

  7. Hmm… how do I fix this?

November 18, 2010 by Sunit Nandi

Looks like I am having a little bit of trouble doing something on my Android phone. I have got a proxy setting app. But it doesnt work because we guys do not have direct access to DNS servers nor have a DNS proxy. Hope someone has a fix for this. Please help me by commenting here.

BTW, I am making the video of our Durga Puja celebrations. I captured the video of our camera to our PC. But the size of the video is 1.15 GB for 40 mins. Which video editor should I use that will use MPEG 4 as output format to save space? Please help me.

  8. Android troubles

September 5, 2010 by Sunit Nandi

So it has been quite a time. So I must write about it. I have been looking for Android 2.2 on my HTC Tattoo. There isn’t any official build, so I naturally looked for custom builds. But most of them were half done with Camera and FM radio not working. So I went back to the official 1.6 build which had a major problem of lack of bluetooth support. So for now I am abandoning the Tattoo.

Worse yet, I am having no luck running Android on HTC HD2. The Haret.exe would get stuck in “jumping to kernel..” and would go no further. Poor day today. But I will keep trying.

Even worse is that I am having my exams at Brilliant Tutorials on Sunday. And Half Yearly Exams in School next month. Life is getting really tough. Lets see what happens.

  9. My school's starting up tomorrow

August 8, 2010 by Sunit Nandi

So finally, my school is going to re-open tomorrow, as our month-long summer holiday is over. Just a matter of few hours, and we all will be able to see our friends again after a long pause. But I am quite worried, because I will be again busy in studies and may not get enough time to spend online. But again I think it doesn’t matter as most of the websites have been properly designed and served.

Right now I have done quite a lot of Mathematics and Physics lessons during these holidays, thanks to the gruelling competition in Brilliant Tutorials. I might drop dead soon when school starts, hehe!

And a good news. BSNL 3G has been launched in our area. Before this launch, we were unable to access 3G even if we had a 3G plan. We only got access in the city area. Now that 3G is in the home as well, I decided to test it. The results were quite unexpected and shocking. Despite good speed and bandwidth, the latency is horrible and the packet rate is very bursty and lossy. Pingtest.net gave it a poor rating, i.e, D. Also it passes through a lot of firewalls and accelerators, slowing the system even further. BSNL must realise that the days of GPRS are over and 3G guys do not need accelerators at all. Well, for now I can only say that it is good only for uploading and downloading data, but totally inefficient for real-time applications like TV and video-calling. I just hope that they improve this service and drop prices when private operators join the bandwagon. I am now still sticking to the IIT’s home network.

Well, so something good happened at the end of the day. All’s well, that ends well. And holiday homeworks? I completed that on Monday. So don’t bug me….!

    Anyway, see you guys soon.

Have a nice day and enjoy the rest half of the year. Hope you had a nice holiday. 😉

  10. After a long pause

August 1, 2010 by Sunit Nandi

So guys, I was away for a very long time because I did not get time to do most of my activities on the web. My holidays started at the beginning of this month, but preparations for exams at Brilliant Tutorials took up half of the month. Then the rest half of the month was used up by catching up with Brilliant syllabus. The exams results were not good. So the entire holidays appear to be wasted up to nothing. No travelling, no shopping, blah blah blah…..

Just a week is left for the school to start. Hopefully, something nice may come up. I have completed building the family website and also put a new and simple theme on my blog which looks great with my verbose typing.

At this moment I am eagerly trying to get my HTC Tattoo to get access to the web, without any appreciated results. Just hope that it will be fine in a couple of days. I have tried transparent proxies but they are hard to set up and I am at it.

I also wanted to set up a networking site for my school friends, but my partner in this venture is not responding to my requests and his phone isn’t working as well.

All in all, everything is in a mess. Just hope that everything will be fine soon.

Ok time to go. Will write again.
